Toowoomba Road Runners was established by Albert Van Der Wyk in 1979 with the late Roger Guard joining Albert as the major stalwarts of the group a short time later.

Their aim was to improve fitness levels and prepare members for the various races held around Southern Queensland. They also encouraged runners to have fun and enjoy the fresh air while running through the numerous laneways past the many sights of Toowoomba and surrounds.

Since then, the club has broadened its objectives to promote health and fitness, create a positive social atmosphere and encourage participation among runners of all abilities.

TRR Organised Events

There are two major events that the Toowoomba Road Runners organise every year – the TRR Murphys Creek Challenge and the Toowoomba Running Festival. The events are operated by club volunteers, supported by the Tooowoomba Regional Council and sponsors. Event costs for participants are kept to a minimum with the club also able to make an annual donation from registration proceeds. Previous beneficiaries include Hope Horizons, the Queensland Police Legacy Scheme and Drought Angels.

TRR has organised the Toowoomba Marathon, Carnival Half Marathon and the King & Queen of the Range races for many years. You can download a history of each of these events here:
